Terms of service

Last updated 11 August 2026. These terms apply to website design, hosting and email services provided by MyBizWeb.

1. The short version

I build you a website for a fixed price. You see it before you pay. You own it. The monthly hosting has no contract and you can leave whenever, and if you do I hand everything over and help you move. Everything below just says that more carefully.

2. Quotes and what is included

A quote is valid for 30 days and lists exactly what is included. Anything not listed is not included, and I will tell you before doing anything chargeable. The published prices cover a standard business website of up to six pages.

3. Payment

  • The build fee is payable once the site is complete and you have approved it.
  • Hosting and email are billed monthly in advance, from the day the site goes live.
  • For larger jobs I may ask for 50% upfront, and will say so in the quote.
  • Invoices are due within 14 days.
  • If hosting goes unpaid for 30 days after a reminder, I may suspend the site. I will not delete anything for 90 days, and I will give you your files on request even if you owe me money. Holding a business's website hostage is not something I am prepared to do.

4. What I need from you

I cannot build the site without your content: photos, service details, opening hours and so on. I will ask for these in one go through an onboarding form.

If I have heard nothing for 60 days after starting, I will treat the project as paused and invoice for work completed to that point, which will not be the full build fee. You can restart any time at no extra cost.

You confirm that anything you send me is yours to use: your photos, your logo, your text. If you send me something you do not have the rights to, that is on you, and I will remove it as soon as anyone raises it.

5. Revisions

Two rounds of changes are included after you see the finished site. A round means one consolidated list, not a change every few days for a month. Beyond that, work is R450 an hour, quoted and agreed before I start.

6. Who owns what

  • You own your website. On full payment, the design, the code and the content are yours outright. I will give you the files whenever you ask.
  • You own your domain. It is registered in your name. If I register it on your behalf, it is still yours and I will transfer it on request without charge or delay.
  • You own your content. Your photos and words remain yours.
  • I keep the right to mention that I built your site, and to show it as an example of my work. If you would rather I did not, say so and I will not.

7. Hosting

I aim for the site to be available all the time and monitor it, but I do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Backups are taken daily and kept for 30 days.

Hosting excludes anything unlawful, and anything that puts the server at risk. If that ever came up I would talk to you before taking action.

8. Cancelling

  • Cancel the monthly whenever, by email. It runs to the end of the paid month.
  • On cancelling, I give you a complete copy of your site and reasonable help moving it, at no charge. I will keep a backup for 90 days in case you need it, then delete everything.
  • I may cancel with 30 days' notice, and in that case I will migrate you somewhere sensible rather than leaving you stranded.

9. Unsolicited design samples

I sometimes send a business a sample homepage designed for them, based only on information publicly listed on their Google Business Profile. If you received one:

  • It carries no obligation and no charge.
  • It is a concept, is clearly marked as unaffiliated, and is excluded from search engines.
  • It uses no logo or copyrighted material of yours.
  • Ask me to take it down and I will do so the same day, permanently.

10. Limits

I will do the work carefully and fix my mistakes. But my liability is limited to what you have paid me in the previous 12 months, and I am not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost business. Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including fraud.

I make no promise about search engine rankings. I will build the site so it can be found and set it up correctly, and I will tell you honestly what that does and does not achieve.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If something goes wrong, let us talk first. I would far rather sort a problem out over the phone than through anyone's lawyers.

12. Changes

If these terms change, existing clients keep the terms they signed up under until their next renewal, and I will email you rather than quietly editing the page.
